Dear ARA Member:
Please make plans to join your colleagues at this year’s ARA Mid-Year Board Conference, Hill Day and Legislative Summit three-day meeting from March 13 – 15, 2013 at the same great convenient location as last year – the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill. Attached for your scheduling information is a copy of the overall meeting agenda and following is a brief description of events listed.
In response to suggestions from past year’s affiliate attendees, ARA has planned for a two-part educational executive leadership session with invited guest speakers to begin the series of meetings at the hotel on Wednesday morning. After lunch on your own that day, we hope you will attend the mid-afternoon meeting of the ARA Board of Directors which will be followed by a 30 minute staff briefing on this year’s “asks” for the individual congressional visits. Immediately after the briefing, all attendees are invited to a reception at the Canadian Embassy just blocks away.
After breakfast on your own, Thursday’s planned agenda will begin with a congressional speaker, after which attendees will walk to the Capitol to begin the scheduled visits. Lunch that day will once again be on Capitol Hill with congressional speakers. NEW on this day -in between meetings – will be an afternoon briefing by automotive recyclers for congressional staffers about the automotive recycling industry. The formal day’s agenda will conclude with a reception.
Also NEW to this series of meetings is the convening of ARA’s 6th Legislative Summit on Friday the 15th from 8:00am to 3:00pm. This session which historically has always been held in July in Nashville is open to automotive recyclers and state affiliate representatives only. A specific agenda and other related communications will be provided to registered attendees for this session in the near future.
The convening of the new 113th Congress provides ARA members with many exciting opportunities. But we need your voices to lend strength to our ongoing mission – to support your businesses and industry partners through efforts to lessen unnecessary regulation and to provide a level playing field for salvage acquisition.
